Who is SEMA?

The Solar Energy Manufacturers for America (SEMA) Coalition is a diverse group of non-Chinese solar manufacturers united to rebuild the domestic supply chain. Our members are building or looking to build solar components across the value chain in the U.S.—polysilicon, wafers, cells, modules, and other solar components. Over 45,000 manufacturing jobs exist or are planned at facilities in the solar supply chain. We work to implement policies that reshore a secure and competitive solar supply chain that will unleash American energy dominance and de-risk the solar industry from Chinese-controlled entities while meeting current and future energy demand, create high-quality, good-paying manufacturing jobs, and drive American Innovation.

The SEMA Coalition is a 501 (c)(4) nonprofit organization that works directly with policymakers in Congress and the administration, along with non-governmental stakeholders, to elevate the voices and interests of domestic solar manufacturers.

2025 Priorities

  1. De-risking the Industry from Chinese-controlled Entities
The administration should implement America-first trade and tax policies to combat China’s monopolistic control of the global solar supply chain.
  2. Reshoring the Solar Supply Chain
Congress should support tax provisions that spur American manufacturing investments, lower energy costs, and reduce dependence on China, notably the Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit and Domestic Content Bonus.
  3. Creating Jobs and Building Factories Across America
The federal government should provide a level playing field for American manufacturers and workers, and drive investment across all components in the solar supply chain.
