SEMA Comments on the House passage of the Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act

Washington, DC – Today, following the House passage of the Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act, Mike Carr, Executive Director of the Solar Energy Manufacturers for America (SEMA) Coalition, released the following statement:

“We appreciate Chairman Moolenaar, Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi, and Representative Hinson for their work on this bipartisan legislation that will protect American solar manufacturing jobs. This Department of Justice task force will advance action against violations of U.S. trade laws including fraud, duty evasion, UFLPA evasion, and transshipment. Far too often, trade violations, often from CCP-backed solar manufacturers, are seen as the ‘cost of doing business.’ This legislation should change that.

“We look forward to continuing our work with members like Chairman Moolenaar and Representative Kaptur as they work to advance appropriations for this Task Force, and hope this effort includes a focus on UFLPA priority sectors and violators of the Dec. 3rd unitization requirement.”
