SEMA Coalition Calls House Action “Missed Opportunity” to Protect Taxpayer Investments and Build Secure Solar Supply Chains

The House of Representatives will not take action to address China’s market manipulation of the U.S. solar industry during “China Week”

Washington, DC – Today, Mike Carr, Executive Director of the Solar Energy Manufacturers for America (SEMA) Coalition, released the following statement:

“While the House is not scheduled to take up legislation this week to address taxpayer dollars flowing to Chinese-owned solar companies or China’s market manipulation, we look forward to continuing to work with Congress on bipartisan solutions to protect American-owned solar manufacturing.

“While we should welcome foreign investment in the U.S., Chinese-owned solar companies should not have access to U.S. incentives while they receive massive market-distorting subsidies in China and dump solar goods in the U.S.

“By reshoring the solar supply chain, we can bolster solar manufacturing in the U.S. and ensure our country is not dependent on China for a technology that was invented here and accounted for half of our new grid energy additions last year.”
