Claire August specializes in congressional advocacy, tracking, and the appropriations process.
Claire previously worked at the Solar Energy Industries Association in the congressional affairs, research, membership, and executive departments, and as the staff liaison for the solar thermal sector. Claire oversaw advocacy efforts to increase the DOE Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) budget over 10% from FY2019 to FY2020 and was part of the team that advocated for the delayed phasedown of the Investment Tax Credit enacted into law in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021.
Claire was a 2018 Clean Energy Leadership Institute Fellow and is a member of Women in Government Relations' Energy, Environment, and Agriculture Task Force and the Women in Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) DMV chapter's planning committee. Claire holds a B.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs and in her free time volunteers in local environmental advocacy and voter registration and activation.
